Ken’s Checkerboard Tile Pad

Ken went next-level with his garage. He installed checkerboarded floor tiles under the car lift, and that fresh tile pad instantly elevates the entire shop. It creates the perfect backdrop to showcase his awesome rides. This project is a game-changer!

What’s a Tile Pad?

Ken just dialed in his garage, and here’s the smart play he made: Instead of tiling the entire floor, he focused on a 244-tile pad directly under his car lift. It’s a great way to define that space and really make it pop without going all-in on the whole garage.

He even added edging around the border for a seamless look, making that pad feel like a true centerpiece. Ken’s setup is against the wall, but you could easily center yours with edging all around for a floating island of awesome. It’s all about making that specific zone around your ride stand out.

What are the benefits of a tile pad?

Define the space: In shop applications, a tile pad can make perfect sense. You can highlight your ride while letting tools and messes fade into the background..

Ease of Install: By opting for a pad instead of a wall-to-wall installation, it might not be necessary to trim tiles. Simply piece the tiles together as-is, then add edging where necessary. Note: There are female and male edge pieces; if you’re unsure how many of each you need, just give us a call!

Cost: A wall-to-wall install, by nature, is going to cost more because it requires more tiles. A tile pad lets you get the tiles where you want them without having to cover everywhere.
